Whether you’re serving them as a quick dessert, an afternoon snack, or a treat for guests, they’re guaranteed to impress.
Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, washed and hulled
- 1 package crescent roll dough (or puff pastry, cut into small squares)
- 4 oz (115g) cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (plus more for dusting)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ cup strawberry jam (optional)
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon water
- Melted chocolate (optional, for drizzling)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
2. Assemble the Bombs
Unroll the crescent dough and separate into individual pieces. If using puff pastry, cut into small squares.
Lightly flatten each piece of dough with your fingers or a rolling pin.
Place a teaspoon of the cream cheese filling in the centre of the dough. If using strawberry jam, add a small spoonful on top of the filling.
Place one whole strawberry on top of the filling.
3. Seal the Dough
Wrap the dough around the strawberry and filling, pinching the edges together to fully enclose it and form a sealed ball. Make sure no filling is leaking out.
4. Prepare the Egg Wash
Whisk the egg with one tablespoon of water. Brush the tops of each sealed dough ball with the egg wash to give them a shiny, golden finish when baked.
5. Bake the Strawberry Bombs
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Place the bombs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each one.
Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
6. Cool and Decorate
Allow the strawberry bombs to cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar. For a more indulgent finish, drizzle with melted chocolate.
