Cheeseburger Sandwich Sliders

Servings: 12 sliders
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Cooking time: 15 to 20 minutes
Total time: Approximately 35 to 40 minutes

Ingredients

For the beef mixture

  • 500 grams (about 1 pound) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

For assembling the sliders

  • 12 soft slider buns (or Hawaiian sweet rolls, left attached for easier assembly)
  • 6 to 8 slices of cheddar cheese (or American cheese), halved
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried parsley (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for topping)

Instructions

1. Cook the Beef Filling

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a wooden spoon as it browns.
Once the meat starts to release its juices, add the diced onion and minced garlic. Cook for about 5 to 7 minutes until the beef is fully browned and the onions are soft and translucent.

Drain any excess fat from the skillet, then stir in the mustard, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.
Cook for another 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally to fully combine the flavours.
Once done, remove from heat and set aside.

2. Prepare the Buns

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

Using a serrated knife, slice the entire block of slider buns in half horizontally, keeping the individual buns attached.
Place the bottom halves of the buns in a greased or parchment-lined 9×13 inch baking dish or oven-safe tray.

3. Assemble the Sliders

Spread the cooked beef mixture evenly over the bottom half of the buns. Make sure the mixture covers edge to edge for uniform flavour in every bite.

Lay the cheese slices over the beef, slightly overlapping if needed to ensure full coverage. You can use more or less cheese depending on preference.

Place the top halves of the buns back over the cheese to complete the sliders.

4. Make the Topping

In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with the garlic powder. Add dried parsley if desired.
Brush this mixture generously over the tops of the buns.
If using, sprinkle sesame seeds on top for added crunch and a classic burger look.

5. Bake

Cover the baking dish loosely with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 to 7 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

6. Serve

Remove from the oven and let rest for a minute or two.
Using a sharp knife, cut the sliders apart along the bun lines.
Serve warm, either straight from the tray or on a platter.

Tips and Variations

  • Add pickles: Place pickle slices between the beef and cheese layers before baking.
  • Spicy version: Add jalapeños or hot sauce to the beef mixture for a kick.
  • Different cheese: Swap cheddar with mozzarella, pepper jack, or a cheese blend for variety.
  • Make ahead: Assemble the sliders a few hours in advance, refrigerate, and bake just before serving.

These cheeseburger sandwich sliders are quick to make, easy to serve, and hard to resist. Ideal for casual get-togethers or a fun twist on weeknight dinners.
