A creamy, chocolate-coated frozen treat that tastes just like your favourite Magnum bar—perfect for hot days or anytime you’re craving a cool dessert.
Ingredients:
- 1 can (370ml) all-purpose cream
- 1 can (410ml) evaporated milk
- 1 can (300ml) condensed milk
- ½ cup dark chocolate (chopped or in chunks)
Directions:
1. Make the Creamy Milk Base
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose cream, evaporated milk, and condensed milk. Stir thoroughly until well blended. Set the mixture aside in the fridge to chill while you prepare the chocolate coating.
2. Prepare the Chocolate Coating
Melt the dark chocolate using either a microwave (30-second bursts, stirring in between) or a double boiler over simmering water. Heat until fully melted and smooth. Allow the melted chocolate to cool slightly before transferring it to a squeeze bottle for easy application.
3. Coat the Ice Candy Wrappers
Insert the tip of the squeeze bottle into the bottom of each ice candy plastic wrapper and squeeze in about a tablespoon of melted chocolate (or more, depending on your preference).
Lay the wrappers flat on a clean surface. Using a stick or the handle of a spoon, spread the chocolate evenly along the inside of the wrapper to your desired length. This will become the chocolate shell for the ice candy.
4. Add the Milk Mixture
Using a funnel, pour the chilled milk mixture into the chocolate-lined wrappers. Fill until the mixture reaches the chocolate coating line, leaving enough space at the top to tie the plastic securely. Seal each wrapper tightly with a knot. Repeat this process for the remaining wrappers and milk mixture.
5. Freeze and Serve
Place the sealed wrappers in the freezer and chill overnight or for at least 6–8 hours until completely frozen and firm.
Once frozen, your Magnum-style ice candies are ready to enjoy!
Tips for Best Results:
- Use high-quality dark chocolate for a richer flavour.
- Make sure the chocolate is fully cooled (but still fluid) before adding to the wrappers to prevent melting the plastic.
- For variation, try adding crushed cookies or nuts to the milk mixture before freezing.
- If you don’t have a squeeze bottle, you can use a small spoon to add chocolate, though it may be a bit messier.
This homemade Magnum Ice Candy is creamy, chocolatey, and absolutely irresistible. A must-try frozen treat that’s perfect for kids and adults alike!
